Mayor, Lester Bownds,
Lester Bownds was appointed Mayor on January 8th, 1996. He was first elected to the city council as councilman Place III May 8th, 1989. He is now retired, but previously he was employed by the Lorenzo Schools as the Vo- Ag teacher. He serves on the ORCA Grant Commitee and is involved with many functions at the First Baptist Church of Lorenzo.

Stephen E. Gaines joined the City Council on May 11, 2009.
Raised in Yerington, Nevada a small town southeast of Carson City, Nevada, Stephen moved to Waldron, Arkansas during his last two years of high school. He graduated from Waldron High School in 1989.
Stephen put his wife through college while working at a chicken processing plant and then later attended college himself. Stephen has a BS degree in Medical Technology and Microbiology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and an MBA from Texas A&M University. He is employed as a Process Improvement Specialist for United Blood Services of West Texas which covers Lubbock, Midland, Odessa and San Angelo.
Stephen and his wife Sonya have one daughter Jaden. Sonya is employed by the Lorenzo School District as the 5th & 6th grade science teacher and 4th grade math teacher. They both are members of the Lorenzo First Baptist Church. Stephen is co-teacher in the young adult class and an ordained minister.
When not working or at some kind of training, Stephen enjoys camping, reading and collecting/firing black powder firearms.

Mayor Pro-tem & City Council Place # 2
Cheryl Birdwell was sworn in as City Council member Place II on September 18, 2006. Cheryl currently serves as Mayor Pro-Tem for the City of Lorenzo.
A teacher at Lorenzo High School, Cheryl earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Texas Tech University. She also serves as Secretary of the Crosby County Library Board.
Cheryl enjoys reading, playing games on the computer and walking.
?I would like to make people aware of the advantages of living in Lorenzo. We are a very friendly community where it is safe to walk the streets at night and our tax rates are low?

City Council Place # 5
Charles Cate was sworn in as City Council member Place V on October 27, 2003.
Charles is currently employed by Spur ISD and is President of the Lorenzo Chamber of Commerce.
Charles loves Hot Air Ballooning, coin collecting and watching sports on television as well as in person.
Charles received his BS from McMurry College in Secondary Education, His M.ED from University of Houston, Victoria in Health, Physical Education and Recreation Education and his Administration Certification from Texas Tech University.
